YAHOVAH’S FEASTS IN THE NEW TESTAMENT
PART 4
FEAST OF FIRST FRUITS OR
YOM HA BIKKURIM
In this series of posts, we’re going to briefly list Yahovah’s biblical Feasts, show the commandment in the Old Testament, then list New Testament scriptures that show Yeshua HaMashiach, the apostles, or the church observing these eternal Feasts of Yahovah.
Leviticus 23:9-14, “And Yahovah spoke to Moses, saying, 10Speak to the sons of Israel, and you shall say to them, When you come in to the land which I am giving to you, and have reaped its harvest, and have brought in the Omer, of the beginning of your harvest, to the priest, 11then he shall wave the Omer before Yahovah for your acceptance; on the morrow of the Sabbath the priest shall wave it. 12And you shall prepare a lamb in the day you wave the Omer, one without blemish, a son of a year, for a burnt offering to Yahovah. 13And its food offering shall be two tenths part of flour mixed with oil, a fire offering to Yahovah, a sweet fragrance; and its drink offering, a fourth of a hin of wine. 14And you shall not eat bread, nor roasted grain, nor fresh ears, until this same day, until you have brought the offering of your Divine One; it is a never ending statute throughout your generations in all your dwellings.”
This feast begins the Omer count to the Feast of Pentecost or Shavuot. It always occurs on the day after the Sabbath that happens during the week of Unleavened Bread. The Feast of First Fruits is a type of the Resurrection.
Matthew 28:1, “But after the Sabbaths, at the dawning into the first of the Sabbaths (feast of first fruits), Mariam of Magdalene and the other Mariam came to look upon the grave.”
Mark 16:9, “And having risen and now early on the first of the Sabbath count to Shavuot. He first appeared to Mariam Magdalene, from whom He had cast out seven demons.”
Luke 24:1-3, “And the first of the Sabbaths (The seven week Sabbath count to Shavuot) at dawn, while still dark, they came on the tomb, carrying spices which they prepared; and some were with them. 2And they found the stone having been rolled away from the tomb. 3And going in, they did not find the body of the Master Yeshua.”
John 20:1, “But on the first of the Sabbaths (The seven week count to Shavuot), Mariam Magdalene came early to the tomb, darkness yet being on it. And she saw the stone had been removed from the tomb.”
John 20:17, “Yeshua said to her, Do not touch Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father. But go to My brothers and say to them, I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and My Divine One, and your Divine One.” Yeshua ascended to the Father on Resurrection Day to offer Himself as the first fruits offering for our salvation.
Matthew 27:52-53, “And the tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised. 53And coming forth out of the tombs after His resurrection, they entered into the holy city and were seen by many.” These saints were also first fruits offerings to Yahovah on this Feast of First Fruits in 30 AD!
1 Corinthians 15:20-23, “But now Messiah has been raised from the dead; He became the first-fruit of those having fallen asleep. 21For since through man came death, also through a Man is a resurrection of the dead; 22for as in Adam all die, so also in Messiah all will be made alive. 23But each in his own order: Messiah, the first-fruit; afterward those of Messiah at His coming.”
James 1:18, “It is He who begot us from His own will, by the Word of truth, that we should be the first-fruits of His creatures.”
Revelation 14:4, “These are the ones who had not become defiled, for they are pure. These are the ones following the Lamb wherever He may go. These were redeemed from among men being the first-fruits to Yahovah and to the Lamb.”
