Yahovah’s Feasts in the New Testament – Part 3 – Feast of Unleavened Bread

YAHOVAH’S FEASTS IN THE NEW TESTAMENT

PART 3

FEAST OF UNLEAVENED BREAD

In this series of posts, we’re going to briefly list Yahovah’s biblical Feasts, show the commandment in the Old Testament, then list New Testament scriptures that show Yeshua HaMashiach, the apostles, or the church observing these eternal Feasts of Yahovah.

Leviticus 23:6-8, “And on the fifteenth day of this month [Nisan or Abib] is the Feast of Unleavened to Yahovah; you shall eat unleavened things seven days. 7On the first day you shall have a holy gathering; you shall do no laborious work; 8and you shall bring near a fire offering to Yahovah seven days; and the seventh day shall be a holy gathering; you shall do no laborious work.”

Examples of the Feast of Unleavened Bread observed in the New Testament:

Matthew 26:17, “And on the first day of the Feast of Unleavened, the disciples came to Yeshua, saying to Him, Where do you desire we should prepare for You to eat the Passover?”

Mark 14:12, “And on the first day of the Unleavened Bread, when they killed the Passover, His disciples said to Him, Where do You desire that going we may prepare that You may eat the Passover?”

Luke 2:41-42, “And His parents went into Jerusalem year by year at the Feast of the Passover. 42And when He was twelve years old, they, going up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the Feast,”

Luke 22:1, 7, “And the Feast of Unleavened Bread, being called Passover, drew near. . . 7And the day of the Unleavened came, on which the Passover must be slaughtered.”

Acts 20:6, “But we sailed along after the days of Unleavened Bread from Philippi, and came to them at Troas in five days, where we stayed seven days.”

1 Corinthians 5:6-8, “Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens all the lump? 7Then clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are unleavened. For our Passover is Messiah who was sacrificed for our sake. 8Therefore, let us perform the feast, not with old leaven, nor with leaven of malice and of evil, but with unleavened bread of purity and holiness.”

Luke 23:50-56, “And, behold, a man named Joseph, being a councilor, a good and righteous man. 51This one was not assenting to their counsel and deed (he was from Arimathea, a city of the Jews), and who himself was eagerly expecting the kingdom of Yahovah, 52coming near to Pilate, this one asked for the body of Yeshua. 53And he took it down and wrapped it in a shroud of linen and laid it in a hewn tomb that which no man had yet been placed. 54And the day was setting and the Sabbath [of Unleavened Bread, Nisan 15] was approaching. 55And having followed, also the women who were accompanying Him out of Galilee, watched the tomb, and how His body was placed. 56And returning, they prepared spices and perfume. And indeed they rested on the Sabbath [of Unleavened Bread, Nisan 15], according to the commandment.”
