The Implacable or Non-Covenantal

2 Timothy 3:1-5, “But know this: In the last days, there will be difficult times. 2 For people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, and profane. 3 They will be without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, without self-control, violent, not lovers of good. 4 They will be betrayers, headstrong, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of Yehowah. 5 They will have a semblance of reverence, but they will deny its power. Turn away from these people.”

Rom 1:31 They have no understanding; they are untrustworthy, without natural affections or covenant, and unmerciful.

The word Paul uses in both of these passages is Strong’s # G786, the Greek word aspondos. It means this type of person cannot be placated, cannot be appeased, will not be persuaded to join covenant. This person is inexorable, merciless, relentless, stern, unforgiving, unmerciful, unmitigable, and unrelenting. This kind of person does not want to get saved or be your friend. They are your enemy.

This is not a word I use or think about every day. That’s why when Marner asked me what the word meant, I responded that I did not know. You can try to win this type of person to Yeshua by preaching the Gospel to them, but they may have already given their heart to the Devil. You may harm yourself while trying to win such a person to Messiah. This person will need lots of prayer and probably deliverance.

The Scriptures reveal that many people in the end times will not repent and turn to Yehowah for salvation. This kind of person is one of those. Revelation 9:20, “The rest of mankind, those who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the deeds they had done, nor did they stop worshiping demons and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood, things that cannot see, hear, or walk.” Revelation 16:9, “They were scorched by the terrible radiation, and they blasphemed the name of Yehowah, who has the power over these plagues. They did not repent or give him glory.”

The wrath of Yehowah rests upon the implacable.
