DO WE NEED TO OBEY THE LAW?
2 Peter 3:15-17, “Also, consider the patience of our Lord to be salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul wrote to you, according to the wisdom that was given to him. 16Paul speaks of these things in all his letters, in which there are things that are difficult to understand. Ignorant and unstable men distort (Hellenize) these things, as they also do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction. 17Therefore, beloved, since you know these things, guard yourselves, so that you are not led astray by the deceit of lawless people, and you lose your own faithfulness.”
Notice first of all that Peter believed Paul’s writings to be Scripture. You just have to understand the entire Bible, Genesis to Revelation, to understand some of Paul’s writings.
Paul did teach us believers to obey the law:
Romans 2:13, “For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before Yehowah, but it is the doers of the law who will be justified.”
2 Timothy 3:16-17, “All Scripture is Yehowah-breathed. It is profitable for doctrine, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness. 17This is so that the allegiant of Yehowah may be competent, equipped for every good work.”
Romans 3:31, “Do we then nullify the law through faith? May it never be! Instead, we uphold the law.”
Ephesians 2:10, “For we are Yehowah’s workmanship, created in Messiah Yeshua to do good deeds that Yehowah planned long ago for us, so that we would walk in them.”
There’s only about 735 commandments in the Tanak, or First Covenant, and many of them don’t apply to the masses but are for priests and kings, etc.
All of the Apostles, including Paul, always lived an obedient life, especially once they were saved by Yeshua. They attended Temple or Synagogue every Sabbath. They celebrated Yehowah’s Feasts every year. They learned to love and communicate the Gospel to all humans without racism or prejudice.
Yeshua stated quite plainly in Matthew 5:17, “Do not think that I have come to destroy the law or the prophets (Deut. 4:2; 12:32; Prov. 30:6; Acts 24:14). I have come not to destroy them, but to uphold (Heb. Lekayem; Rom. 13:8-10; Gal. 5:14) them.”
Yeshua is our Savior, Lord, and Leader. All the Apostles left us good examples to follow. They all kept Father Yehowah’s law to the very best of their abilities. We have no excuse, let’s obey and serve Yeshua to the best of our ability this year.
All Scripture was taken from the Son Of Man Bible, SOMB.
