Another Gem from du Tillet’s Matthew
My New King James Version for Matthew 1:1-17 reads as follows: “The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ (Yeshua HaMashiach), the Son of David, the Son of Abraham:
2Abraham begot Isaac, Isaac begot Jacob, and Jacob begot Judah and his brothers. 3Judah begot Perez and Zerah by Tamar, Perez begot Hezron, and Hezron begot Ram. 4Ram begot Amminadab, Amminadab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon. 5Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab, Boaz begot Obed by Ruth, Obed begot Jesse, 6and Jesse begot David the king.
David the king begot Solomon by her who had been the wife of Uriah. 7Solomon begot Rehoboam, Rehoboam begot Abijah, and Abijah begot Asa. 8Asa begot Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat begot Joram, and Joram begot Uzziah. 9Uzziah begot Jotham, Jotham begot Ahaz, and Ahaz begot Hezekiah. 10Hezekiah begot Manasseh, Manasseh begot Amon, and Amon begot Josiah. 11Josiah begot Jeconiah and his brothers about the time they were carried away to Babylon.
12And after they were brought to Babylon, Jeconiah begot Shealtiel, and Shealtiel begot Zerubbabel. 13Zerubbabel begot Abiud, Abiud begot Eliakim, and Eliakim begot Azor. 14Azor begot Zadok, Zadok begot Achim, and Achim begot Eliud. 15Eliud begot Eleazar, Eleazar begot Matthan, and Matthan begot Jacob. 16And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ.
17So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, from David until the captivity in Babylon are fourteen generations, and from the captivity in Babylon until the Christ are fourteen generations.”
I’ve posted on this aberration in Matthew 1 before, there are only 13 generations mentioned in the English version of the last set of the generations of Jesus, aka Yeshua, from the Babylonian captivity. 1 – Shealtiel, 2 – Zerubbabel, 3 – Abiud, 4 – Eliakim, 5 – Azor, 6 – Zadok, 7 – Achim, 8 – Eliud, 9 – Eleazar, 10 – Matthan, 11 – Jacob, 12 – Joseph (Shem Tov’s Hebrew Matthew reveals that this Joseph is Mary’s father); 13 – Mary. But, if you take the time to read the English translation of du Tillet’s Hebrew Matthew found here: http://www.torahresource.com/DuTillet/Schonfield.pdf you will find out that the original Hebrew manuscript of Matthew, translated and published in 1927 CE by Hugh J. Schonfield, shows the missing patriarch from that final list of 14 generations. Du Tillet’s Hebrew Matthew states, beginning at verse 13, “Zerubbabel begat Abihud; Abihud begat Abner; Abner begat Eliakim” Grandpa Abner has been missing for over 1,800 years from Jesus’ genealogy. But if it was translated and revealed in 1927, why don’t our modern Bibles show us Abner in this genealogy list? Because ALL modern translators use Greek manuscripts, that are more recent than these ancient Hebrew manuscripts of Matthew found at www.torahresource.com. Apparently, in the Hebrew, there is very little difference between the names Abiud and Abner. An early copiest just missed it and dropped Abner from the list. Oops, it doesn’t affect the Gospel message or your salvation.
Well, now you can just correct your Bible by placing Abner in his place in history and silence your neighborhood Bible critics. When the Scriptures state that there are 14 generations from the Babylonian captivity until Messiah Yeshua, it means it and it is correct!!! So, get over it. Here’s your new list: 1 – Shealtiel, 2 – Zerubbabel, 3 – Abiud, 4 – Abner; 5 – Eliakim, 6 – Azor, 7 – Zadok, 8 – Achim, 9 – Eliud, 10 – Eleazar, 11 – Matthan, 12 – Jacob, 13 – Joseph (Shem Tov’s Hebrew Matthew reveals that this Joseph is Mary’s father), 14 – Mary.
Mary, or Princess Miriam of Israel, simply married a man by the same name as her father. Matthew 1 is Yeshua’s lineage through his mother, Mary. Matthew 1 proves Yeshua’s legal right to the Kingship of Israel through his forefather King David. It is fascinating to me that the Kingship passed to Yeshua through his mother Mary, an unknown princess of Israel. You know Matthew 1 lists the Kingship, simply by following the line of Judean kings from David to Jeconiah/Jehoiachin. Remember, Jehoiachin, the last true Judean king, was the king taken captive by Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar, and by whom Ezekiel tracked their captivity years.
We know that the Joseph, ancestor number 13 above, spoken of in Matthew 1 is Mary’s father, because in the genealogy in Luke 3:23-38, we see that Joseph’s father’s name was Heli, not Jacob (ancestor number 12 above). Luke 3:23, “Now Jesus (Yeshua) Himself began His ministry at about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph (husband of Mary), the son of Heli,” Luke 3:23-38 declares Yeshua’s lineage through his adoptive earthly dad, Joseph, all the way back to Creator Father Yahweh. Joseph, husband of Mary, adopted Jesus, or Yeshua, therefore, Yeshua inherited David’s Birthright legally!! Therefore, Yeshua is legally the King of Israel, and legally holds the Yahweh family Birthright!!! Matthew and Luke assure us of Yeshua’s rightful place in Yahweh’s Kingdom!!
I’ve updated my Yeshua genealogy spreadsheet to reflect this most recent discovery. Simply email me and ask for your copy of my generations spreadsheet today.
Today’s recommendation: stick with the Scriptures, but stick with the most accurate translation of the Scriptures you can find!!
Blessings,
